Concerned Citizens under the banner Malawi First have called upon government to suspend Tax Stamp which is implemented by Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA).
Leader for the group Bon Kalindo made the call at Crown Hotel in Lilongwe during Press Conference.
Kalindo said the new policy by MRA will affect already struggling business individuals in the country if government does not consider to suspend it.
“The policy measures will not support business individuals but only widen the gap between the poor and the rich”, he said.
Kalindo who is also a Political activist said government should first engage stakeholders such as vendors and business community to hear their concerns on the policy.
He also asked Malawi Police Service to stop what he described as political and selective arrests.
He mentioned cited example of Hon. Kamlepo Kalua and Rev. Gondwe who were arrested and droved long distances after suspected to have committed cyber crime related offense.
The grouping has since given a 10 day altimetum to government to suspend the implementation and make consultation
