Penjani Fredokiss Kaluwa, Director of Youth at the United Transformation Movement (UTM), has expressed his admiration for President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and his administration following the successful acquisition of land at the Port of Nacala in Mozambique. This development comes after President Chakwera’s recent visit to Mozambique, where he signed key agreements with the Mozambican government, resulting in the allocation of a portion of the Nacala port to Malawi for its import and export activities.
Kaluwa took to his Facebook page to congratulate the President and his team, writing, “If this is true, well done.” His statement reflects the positive reception of this strategic achievement, which is expected to significantly benefit Malawi’s trade and economy.
The Port of Nacala is set to cut Malawi’s port travel time by nearly 50%, reducing the country’s reliance on Tanzanian ports. This move is anticipated to streamline Malawi’s import and export processes, enhancing the nation’s trade efficiency.
Additionally, the two countries are collaborating on other critical areas, including electricity and air services, further strengthening their bilateral relations.
The acquisition of land at Nacala represents a significant milestone in Malawi’s efforts to enhance its logistical and economic infrastructure, and Kaluwa’s endorsement highlights the broader political support for these advancements.
