ROADS AUTHORITY TERMINATES CONTRACTS WITH THREE CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES

The Roads Authority (RA) has terminated its contract with three construction companies Hema, Dika, and Fargo that were working on the Ntchisi-Dzaleka M7 roads. The companies have since removed their equipment from the sites.

Portia Kajanga, spokesperson for the Roads Authority, confirmed the decision in an interview, explaining that it was made after encountering several challenges with the three companies. However, Kajanga did not provide specific details about these challenges.

“Currently, we are in the process of selecting a new contractor, with the aim of resuming work in November this year,” Kajanga said.

There is speculation that the contract termination may be related to delays by the contractors, who failed to meet deadlines. Some individuals have suggested that the Roads Authority should apply the same scrutiny to other road projects nationwide.

Additionally, there are concerns that some contractors intentionally delay projects to shift blame onto the government rather than accepting responsibility themselves.
