Bishop Alfred Mateyu Chaima of the Zomba Diocese has encouraged members of the Catholic Women Association (CWA) to emulate the life of the Holy Mother Mary by serving the church with devotion and dedication.
Bishop Chaima made these remarks at Chiluwe Catholic Church, part of the Holy Trinity Parish in Zomba Diocese, during the annual CWA prayers dedicated to the Holy Mother Mary.
He reminded the women of Mary’s obedience to God’s will, particularly when she accepted the instructions of the Angel of the Lord. The bishop urged the women to remain obedient to God’s guidance in fulfilling their responsibilities within the church.
“I appeal to you to be humble as you serve the Lord. Abide by Christian values and live according to the will of God,” he said.
Bishop Chaima also called on the women to take care of natural resources, reminding them that all of creation is the work of God. He emphasized that God entrusted humanity with the duty and responsibility to preserve and protect the environment.
The Chairperson of the CWA in the diocese, Christina Lakiyoni, stated that the prayers were organized to honor the Holy Mother Mary, while also providing a platform for women to foster unity in serving the Lord. She further encouraged women to care for the environment in their respective parishes.
Speaking on behalf of the women, Mary Gulamu, one of the founders of the Catholic Women Association in the Zomba Diocese, urged women to love one another to ensure the continued success of the organization. She expressed satisfaction that the CWA remains active in church activities.
More than 5,000 women from 20 parishes attended the event.
