KASAMBALA DEFENDS MR. ZOMBA TITLE, EYES MR. MALAWI CONTEST

Police officer Harris Jaspar Kasambala, from the Police College in Zomba, successfully defended his Mr. Zomba title after outclassing six other contestants at a bodybuilding and powerlifting competition held at Naminyowe Villa in Zomba City.

Kasambala, who serves with the Police Mobile Service, received K250,000 from event organizer Bright Limani as a reward for defending his title this year. In addition to the cash prize, he was awarded a medal, a T-shirt, and bottles of mineral water from Namadzi Bottlers.

Speaking after his victory, Kasambala attributed his success to consistent training, confidence, and learning from both advice and criticism of his past performances. He also expressed his intention to continue competing, with an eye on the Mr. Malawi competition in Lilongwe on December 1 of this year.

“I have been watching competitions in other countries through video clips, and I’ve gained valuable knowledge and skills from them. This has helped me perform well in competitions,” Kasambala added.

Moses Mphinga from Cobbe Barracks secured second place after lifting 643 kg during the event. He received a cash prize of K200,000, an additional K100,000 from Herbal Mixture, a T-shirt, and bottles of mineral water from Namadzi Bottlers.

Event organizer Bright Limani declared the competition a success, despite challenges such as a power blackout. He also noted that many potential competitors were unable to participate in the Mr. Zomba contest due to their inability to afford the entry fees.
