KABAMBE PRAISES KALIYATI’S ROLE IN STRENGTHENING UTM AHEAD OF 2025 ELECTIONS

UTM President Dr. Dalitso Kabambe has lauded former party Secretary General Dr. Patricia Kaliyati for her instrumental efforts in keeping the party strong up to its recent convention.

Speaking at a press conference held at the party’s headquarters in Lilongwe, Dr. Kabambe revealed that he personally visited Dr. Kaliyati, Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka, and Engineer Newton Kambala after the convention, urging them to collaborate and work toward securing victory in the 2025 elections.

Addressing concerns about potential divisions within the party, especially with former Vice President Dr. Michael Usi, Kabambe stated that efforts to engage Usi have been made but remain unreciprocated. He emphasized the importance of unity and reaffirmed that the new leadership respects all decisions made by the previous committee.

Kabambe also vowed to take decisive action against anyone working against National Executive Committee resolutions. He assured Malawians that the party would continue to fight for their rights in collaboration with other stakeholders.

Highlighting the UTM manifesto, Kabambe expressed pride in the party’s commitment to combating tribalism, nepotism, and corruption. He pledged to transform Malawi through systematic change and promised an annual allocation of K100 billion to each district to boost manufacturing and development.

“The party will go into the villages to ensure Malawians understand that a UTM government will reset systems for the betterment of all,” Kabambe said.

He concluded by urging the government to address the country’s pressing challenges, adding that resolving these issues could halt ongoing protests involving UTM leadership.
