The Women Judges Association of Malawi (WOJAM) has urged children in Balaka to strive for success in their education to become productive citizens. Through the NZOTHEKA program, WOJAM visited various schools in the area, including Nachitheme, EPIC Private, Andiamo Secondary, and Balaka primary schools, to deliver inspirational talks.
The delegation, consisting of clinicians, nurses, lawyers, and university students, shared motivational messages with the students. Justice Jean Kayira, WOJAM president and Blantyre High Court judge, emphasized the importance of aiming high and overcoming challenges through hard work. She encouraged girls to avoid early pregnancies and sexual relationships to protect their futures.
Justice Kayira explained that the NZOTHEKA program aims to reduce school dropouts among girls caused by early marriages, pregnancies, and lack of support. Chikosa Mwafulirwa, Quality Assurance Officer in Balaka, praised WOJAM’s efforts, noting that their interventions would inspire many girls to continue their education.
Students, including Angel Basikolo from Nachitheme Secondary School, expressed their appreciation for WOJAM’s visit, saying it motivated them to work harder in their studies.
Notable participants in the inspirational talks included Justice Mandala Mambulasa, Justice Jaba Alide, Counsel Patrick Chinguwo, and Registrar of Zomba High Court, Her Worship Hellen Kachala.
