Dumisani Lindani, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate for Zomba Thondwe constituency, has pledged to bring meaningful development to the area if elected in the September 16 elections.
Speaking at a political rally held at Nansawa Technical College ground in Zomba, Lindani said the constituency has lagged behind because past Members of Parliament prioritized personal gain over the needs of the people.
He stressed the importance of youth empowerment through vocational training in welding, construction, carpentry, tailoring, and electrical work, enabling young people to become economically self-reliant.
“I urge the people of Zomba Thondwe not to be misled. If someone comes to bribe you with money, take it it’s your tax money but don’t let that influence your vote,” Lindani told the crowd.
Echoing his sentiments, DPP Vice President for the Eastern Region, Bright Nsaka, urged voters to support Professor Peter Mutharika for President and Lindani as their Member of Parliament. Nsaka assured the audience that a DPP government would ensure food security, reduce the cost of living, and create more employment opportunities for the youth.
The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) will hold tripartite elections Presidential, Parliamentary, and Local Government on September 16 this year.
