CHAKWERA LAUNCHES MCP SOUTHERN REGION CAMPAIGN, PLEDGES JOBS AND DEVELOPMENT

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has launched the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) campaign in the Southern Region with a call for peaceful political engagement and an appeal for continued support to sustain ongoing development nationwide.

Speaking at Ngabu Sports Club in Chikwawa on Friday, Chakwera urged residents not to be misled by claims that his government has neglected the South.

“I have confidence that I still have your support to continue with the development projects. In the 2020 elections, I received 280,755 votes from this region despite others discouraging me that the South would not vote for someone from the Central Region,” he said.

The president highlighted key achievements under his administration, including the construction of health posts, infrastructure upgrades at universities and technical colleges, and disbursement of National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) loans to farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs.

Chakwera also unveiled priorities from the MCP’s 2025 manifesto, such as ensuring food security through local fertilizer manufacturing and creating 750,000 jobs annually, totaling three million by 2030.

Meanwhile, MCP second vice president and Minister of Water and Sanitation, Abida Mia, commended Chakwera for spearheading nationwide development.

“Vote for Chakwera in the September 16 elections to ensure continued development,” she urged.
