MINISTER ADVISES MPs ON ROAD PROJECTS

Minister of Transport public works, Feston Kaupa has told Members of Parliament that councils are responsible to manage community and District constructions.

Kaupa said this in parliament while answering questions as the legislators asked for construction of roads and bridges in their constituencies.

Kaupa emphasized that councils have capacity to construct community roads and bridges while ministry can provide technical support to manage procurement, and to manage contracts.

Member of Parliament for Neno North East Mary Maulidi Khembo expressed concern that there are some projects that can not manage with 5 billion Malawi kwacha but need intervention of central government.

Kaupa responded that some projects can be done in Phases so that members may discus with councils to run the projects in phases.

Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika raised CDF to K5 billion from K200 million to develop the country.
