The Speaker of Parliament, Right Honourable Sameer Gaffar Suleman, MP, this morning received a report from the European Union Election Observer Mission (EUEOM) regarding the September 16 general election.
The EUEOM Chief Observer, Lucia Annunziata, formally presented a copy of the mission’s findings to the Speaker during a meeting held in Blantyre.
In receiving the document, the Speaker expressed appreciation for the observer mission’s work and its contribution to strengthening democratic processes in the country.
He further assured the delegation that Parliament would seriously consider the recommendations, particularly those requiring legislative attention or enhanced parliamentary oversight.
The Speaker emphasized that such recommendations are crucial for improving electoral governance and ensuring credible future elections.
According to the EUEOM, the final public version of the report will be officially released in Lilongwe tomorrow.
The European Union in Malawi continues to support electoral reforms and democratic consolidation efforts across the country.
