CENTENARY BANK DONATES K5 MILLION WORTH OF GOODS TO MAULA PRISON

Centenary Bank has donated goods worth five million Malawi Kwacha to inmates at Maula Prison in Lilongwe as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

The donation was made earlier this week and is aimed at supporting prisoners during the festive season of Christmas and the New Year.

Speaking to thetruth online after handing over the donation, Centenary Bank’s Head of Marketing, Linda Mkosi, said the bank wanted to show love and compassion to people living in prisons during this joyful period.

Mkosi explained that the donated items included soap, maize flour, and clothing, which are essential necessities for inmates at the facility.

She further stated that Centenary Bank plans to extend similar assistance to other prisons across the country, including Mzuzu and Zomba prisons.

According to Mkosi, the bank’s continued support is intended to help reduce some of the challenges faced by inmates in various correctional facilities.

Receiving the donation, Malawi Prison Service spokesperson Steve Charles Meke expressed gratitude to Centenary Bank for the timely support.

Meke also appealed to other organizations, institutions, and individuals to join hands in supporting inmates in different areas, saying such partnerships can greatly improve conditions in prisons across the country.
