GOVERNMENT REMINDS THE PUBLIC ON FREE PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS

The government has reminded people across the country that as schools are reopening for the new academic term, public secondary schools remain free of charge.

This reminder comes at a time when many parents and guardians are preparing to send their children back to school and may be concerned about possible school fees.

The announcement was made through an official circular released by the Ministry of Education.

The circular was issued through the Ministry’s Secretary, Ken Ndala, who confirmed the government’s position on the matter.

According to the statement, all fees related to examinations and other compulsory academic costs have been completely removed in public secondary schools.

The Ministry emphasized that no student should be denied access to education in government secondary schools due to a lack of school fees.

However, the Ministry has also reminded parents and guardians that boarding-related costs are not covered.

Learners who stay in boarding facilities are still required to pay for accommodation and food, commonly referred to as boarding fees.
