The Lilongwe City Council (LCC) on Wednesday officially awarded the K5 billion Senti–Area 49 Zebra Road Project to FNC Engineering Company.
The major infrastructure investment marks a significant step toward transforming Lilongwe into a modern, safe, and vibrant city for all residents.
Designed with the community at its core, the project goes beyond providing a smoother road surface.
It also includes the construction of a high-standard bridge valued at K945 million, which is expected to greatly improve accessibility and safety in the area.
In line with the council’s commitment to inclusive development, the project prioritizes the employment of local residents, ensuring that economic benefits remain within the community.
Once completed, the road is expected to significantly reduce travel time, improve connectivity, and enhance road safety.
These improvements will make it easier for local businesses to operate efficiently and for families to travel with greater ease.
Funded through Treasury resources, the project reflects the Lilongwe City Council’s dedication to building a well-planned, clean, and safe city.
Authorities have expressed optimism that the development will have a lasting positive impact on residents’ daily commutes and the local economy.
