The Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) has strongly dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media alleging that the Office of the First Vice President is being sidelined.
The statement comes amid growing public speculation regarding internal government dynamics.
According to Chief Secretary Justin Adack Saidi, there is no evidence to support claims that former President Arthur Peter Mutharika has asked First Vice President Jane Mayemu Ansah to resign. He emphasized that no such communication has been made or recorded through any official channels.
Saidi reiterated that the reports are entirely unfounded and should be treated as misinformation.
He stressed that government operations continue to follow established procedures, and no decisions have been made to undermine the role of the Vice President.
He further clarified that the First Vice President remains fully engaged in her constitutional duties and continues to carry out her responsibilities without interference.
The OPC maintains that there has been no disruption in the functioning of her office.
Addressing concerns about recent financial adjustments, Saidi explained that these are part of wider government austerity measures and institutional reforms.
He noted that such measures are being applied across various departments and are not targeted at any specific office.
The OPC has since urged both the public and members of the media to exercise caution and verify information before sharing it. Saidi emphasized the importance of relying on credible sources to prevent the spread of misinformation that could mislead citizens.
