NYUSI RECEIVES HONORARY DOCTORATE FROM UNIMA, PLEDGES STRONGER DIPLOMATIC TIES

President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi of Mozambique has been conferred an Honorary Doctorate in International Affairs and Diplomacy (Honoris Causa) by the University of Malawi (UNIMA) in recognition of his dedicated service to the people of Mozambique, the Southern African Development Community (SADC), and beyond.

In his acceptance speech, President Nyusi expressed his deep appreciation to President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and the people of Malawi, noting that the occasion symbolizes the achievements the two nations have made in fostering international relations and pursuing common development goals.

Describing Malawi as a “great friend,” Nyusi emphasized his commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties with neighboring countries.

“We are friends at all times, even in trying moments. I am therefore humbled, honored, and grateful for this award,” he remarked.

President Nyusi also pledged to visit UNIMA to engage with students, where he plans to share insights on Mozambique’s economic diplomacy initiatives.
