People’s Development Party (PDP) President, Kondwani Nankhumwa, has appointed members to the party’s National Governing Council (NGC).
In a letter signed by PDP spokesperson, Rhodes Msonkho, several key appointments were announced, including Bessie Chirambo as the Administrative Secretary and Phoebe Mtembenuzeni as the Deputy Director of Protocol. Brian Nkhwazi was named the Deputy National Publicity Secretary.
The other members appointed to the NGC are:
- Leonard Chipeta, Deputy Director of Legal Affairs
- Francis David Chiwanga, Deputy Director of International Relations
- Alice Lungu, Member
- Ronex Issa, Member
According to the letter, none of these positions were contested during the party’s elective convention, which was held in Blantyre on the 13th and 14th of September, 2024.
Meanwhile, other parties such as the United Transformation Movement (UTM), United Democratic Front (UDF), Freedom Party, and People’s Transformation Party are yet to hold their conventions.
The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has set the next general elections for the 16th of September, 2025.
