President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has called on public officers to uphold honesty and refrain from corrupt practices, urging them to serve Malawians diligently and without demands for bribes.
Speaking Wednesday at Santhe Admarc Ground in Kasungu District, the President expressed concern over reports of officers frustrating citizens by soliciting bribes.
“We must desist from acts of corruption. We must be honest people who provide the much-needed services to people without asking for bribes. Malawians deserve better, and we must not punish them when they come to seek our services,” Chakwera said.
During his tour of the district’s western stretch, the President assured residents of the government’s commitment to improving service delivery, including extending electricity access to underserved communities. He also emphasized fairness in distributing relief items, such as maize, to address hunger caused by recent dry spells.

Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Simplex Chithyola, pledged the revival of Admarc facilities to benefit local communities. Meanwhile, Senior Chief Santhe urged the government to expand rural electrification programs and build more schools in the area.
Chakwera’s address reinforces his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and its focus on equitable service delivery for all Malawians.
