NTCHISI MP URGES GOVERNMENT TO BUILD MORE HEALTH CENTRES

Ntchisi North East legislator Olipa Chimangeni has urged the government to prioritize the construction of hospitals across Malawi.

Chimangeni highlighted the urgent need for health centres in her constituency, noting that local chiefs have already provided land at Vikula and Chanjoka for the projects.

“People are dying along the road, and women are giving birth on the way to the Ntchisi District Hospital due to long distances,” she said.

She further emphasized the overcrowding issues at the district hospital, where patients often spend an entire day waiting for assistance, with admitted patients facing space shortages.

“As a mother, I appeal to the government to uphold people’s right to accessible healthcare by constructing health centres in my constituency,” she added.

Responding to the concerns, Deputy Minister of Health Noah Chimpeni stated that funds have already been allocated to begin constructing health centres nationwide.

Chimangeni also appealed to the Minister of Homeland Security to establish police units at Thondo, Msambakunsi headquarters, and Ndinda headquarters to enhance community security.
