PRESIDENT CHAKWERA RESHUFFLES CABINET FOR GREATER EFFICIENCY

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has made key changes to his cabinet, appointing new ministers to strategic positions to enhance government efficiency.

The announcement was made through a press release from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC), signed by Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Madame Colleen Zamba.

In the latest reshuffle, Vitumbiko Mumba has been appointed Minister of Trade and Industry, tasked with driving Malawi’s economic and industrial growth. Meanwhile, Peter Dimba has been named Minister of Labour, replacing Mumba. Dimba, who serves as the Member of Parliament for Lilongwe South Constituency, previously held the position of Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works since January 2025.

Additionally, Baba Steve Malondera, the Member of Parliament for Lilongwe South East, has been appointed Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works. His role includes supporting infrastructure development and improving public transport services.

These appointments, effective immediately, have been made under the powers vested in the President by Section 92(1) and Section 94(1) of the Constitution of Malawi.
