President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has commended Malawi’s Muslim community for fostering unity and coexistence during the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking today at the Eid Ul-Fitr prayers at Mchoka Primary School Ground in Salima, Chakwera emphasized the importance of national unity for development. He warned against individuals, including politicians, who seek to create instability, stating that division hinders progress.
The President also acknowledged the role of Ramadan in promoting harmony among Malawians.
Mufti Shamuuna Sosola of the Qadria Muslim Association of Malawi (QMAM) praised Chakwera for his dedication to uniting the nation, describing his presence at the event as a sign of humility and true leadership.
Uladi Mussa, a member of the Muslim community, thanked the government for financially supporting Eid Ul-Fitr celebrations across districts and for the President’s participation in prayers with the people of Salima, calling it a gesture of respect.
This year’s Eid Ul-Fitr is being commemorated under the theme “Harmonious Co-existence and Unity in Malawi.”
