MSAS ANNUAL CONFERENCE GATHERS ANGLICAN STUDENTS FOR LEADERSHIP AND SPIRITUAL GROWTH

The Malawi Society of Anglican Students (MSAS), a national Christian student organization uniting Anglican students from universities, colleges, and secondary schools across Malawi, is holding its annual three-day conference in Lilongwe.

MSAS president Chikondi Khumbanyiwa described the conference, themed “A Youth After God’s Own Heart” (Acts 13:22), as a divine call to nurture a generation of spiritually grounded, visionary, and responsible young leaders who will impact both the Church and society.

“This is a gathering of Anglican students from various educational institutions nationwide, along with alumni, church leaders, and clergy,” said Khumbanyiwa. “The conference will take place from April 11 to 13, 2025, at Lilongwe Technical College. Activities will include prayer sessions, Bible study, a financial literacy workshop, networking opportunities, leadership elections, and performances.”

He added that guest speakers will include Apostle Caswel Mkanda, who will address the topic of choosing a life partner; Dr. Cornelius Huwa, who will discuss the role of mental health in academic success; and Reverend Father Jere, who will speak on the conference theme.

MSAS serves as a faith-based platform promoting spiritual growth, fellowship, leadership development, and community engagement, all within the Anglican tradition. According to Khumbanyiwa, MSAS focuses on spiritual and leadership development, organizing national events such as conferences, training sessions, and joint services to connect students and alumni from across Malawi.

“In essence, MSAS is the voice and home of Anglican students in secondary and higher education institutions in Malawi, playing a vital role in shaping godly, visionary, and empowered young people for both Church and national development,” he said.

Khumbanyiwa emphasized that the conference is a transformative gathering focused on spiritual growth, leadership development, networking, and tackling key societal issues. This year’s program includes critical discussions on relationships, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and mental health awareness.

“Beyond spiritual enrichment, the event will promote professional and personal growth, equipping students with essential life skills and strengthening their role in both the Church and society,” he added.

The guest of honour will be the Anglican Archdeacon for Lilongwe South, the Reverend Canon Msakwiza.
