Traditional leaders in Zomba Malosa Constituency have hailed People’s Party parliamentary candidate Edith Kachale Banda for launching a K10 million football bonanza aimed at empowering idle youth in the area.
Speaking on behalf of the chiefs, Senior Group Village Headman (GVH) Mtogolo said the initiative would help steer young people away from unproductive habits such as excessive drinking, smoking, and immoral behavior.
“This Bonanza will give our youth an opportunity to be scouted by major football teams in Malawi. We thank the aspiring MP, Edith Kachale Banda, for bringing this to our community,” said GVH Mtogolo.
He urged the youth to seize the opportunity and showcase their talent, which could lead to selection by top clubs and even national team call-ups.
Kachale Banda said the Bonanza was designed to keep youth active and visible to talent scouts. She added that she plans to expand youth engagement programs by introducing a netball bonanza for girls and establishing vocational training centers.
“These initiatives will help our young people become economically self-reliant,” she said.
Kachale Banda, daughter of former President Dr. Joyce Banda, urged voters to support her in the September 16 elections, promising meaningful development for Zomba Malosa if elected.
