The Honourable Eng. Vitumbiko AZ Mumba will deliver a highly anticipated public lecture titled “Code of Ethics in Malawi’s Construction Industry” on Friday, 18 July 2025, at 6:30 PM at Comesa Hall in Blantyre.
This will be Mumba’s second major public engagement of the year, following his widely acclaimed inaugural lecture, “People over Politics,” held on 11 April 2025 at the University of Malawi’s Great Hall in Zomba. That event drew significant public interest and featured South African academic and activist Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi as keynote speaker, addressing political accountability and the prioritization of public welfare in governance.
Speaking ahead of the Blantyre lecture, Eng. Mumba emphasized the importance of ethics in driving national development:
“The construction industry is the backbone of national progress, and it must be guided by integrity, transparency, and professional ethics. This public lecture is an opportunity to reflect, challenge malpractice, and chart a new ethical path for our industry and the nation at large,” he said.
The event will not only feature thought-provoking discussions on professional standards and accountability in the construction sector but will also include a rich cultural experience. Ma Nyasa Band will headline performances with a special tribute to the late music legend Wambali Mkandawire, alongside popular local artists Fada Moti, Don Tarz, and Kellie Devine.
The lecture is open to the public, including industry professionals, students, policymakers, and all stakeholders passionate about promoting ethical leadership and professionalism within Malawi’s construction industry.
