Aspirant for the parliamentary seat under the People’s Party in the Zomba Malosa constituency, Edith Kachale Banda, has repaired all the broken boreholes in the area to ensure that residents have access to clean and safe drinking water.
In addition to the borehole repairs, she has built modern houses for elderly individuals using funds from the Joyce Banda Foundation, aiming to provide them with proper shelter, especially during the rainy season.
Speaking at a borehole rehabilitation ceremony in Naisi, within the area of Senior Group Village Headman Malemia, Kachale Banda explained that she undertook the borehole repairs to help residents access clean water and prevent the spread of waterborne diseases such as diarrhea.
She stated that access to clean water is one of the priorities outlined in her manifesto, and she is determined to fulfill this commitment even before officially assuming office after the elections scheduled for September 16.
Regarding her housing initiative for the elderly, she mentioned that she will continue constructing modern houses to improve their living conditions as part of her broader development agenda for the Zomba Malosa area.
Kachale Banda also revealed that she has paid school fees for all learners at Malemia Primary School, noting that many parents in the area struggle to afford education due to financial constraints.
She appealed to the people of Zomba Malosa to vote for her in the upcoming September 16 election, emphasizing that she is the only candidate capable of bringing diverse developments to the area.
“The job of a Member of Parliament is to bring development to their area, not to enrich themselves. I believe you’ve seen what has happened over the past six years; your former MP did not implement a single development project, but instead focused on charity work and personal enrichment,” she said.
In his remarks, Senior Group Village Headman Mtogolo thanked Kachale Banda for repairing the broken boreholes, stating that this will help reduce the incidence of waterborne diseases like diarrhea.
GVH Mtogolo also praised her for building modern houses for the elderly and for paying school fees for the students.
Meanwhile, one of the residents of Zomba Malosa, Noel Kunsanama, commended the PP shadow MP for bringing development, particularly improvements to the water supply in the area.
