CHAKWERA REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE AND INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENT

President Lazarus Chakwera has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening Malawi’s road and railway networks as a cornerstone for economic growth, with the rehabilitation of the M5 road standing out as a flagship project.

Speaking at Golomoti Trading Centre in Dedza, the President said modern transport infrastructure is critical for boosting trade and enhancing connectivity across the country. He noted that despite setbacks caused by natural disasters that have affected agricultural productivity this year, his government has rolled out deliberate measures to cushion the economy and uplift the livelihoods of Malawians.

The President further underscored the importance of including young voices in decision-making processes, citing his endorsement of Trade and Industry Minister Vitumbiko Mumba as a demonstration of his commitment to promoting youthful ideas in governance.

At the same event, Chakwera urged Malawians to uphold peace and unity, especially as the country awaits the announcement of the 2025 general election results. He said maintaining stability was essential for sustaining national progress.

Meanwhile, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Central Region Chairperson, Zebron Chilondora, commended the government for its efforts in safeguarding the rights of people with albinism, noting that their inclusion in the civil service reflects a strong commitment to equality and social protection.
