CHAKWERA URGES MALAWIANS TO EMBRACE CHILIMA’S LEGACY OF TIME MANAGEMENT

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has called on Malawians to emulate the late Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima’s discipline in time management, describing it as a crucial ingredient for the country’s sustainable growth and development.

He made the remarks on Saturday during the official commissioning of the Saulos Chilima Highway and Mzimba Street in Lilongwe.

Chakwera said Chilima’s exemplary commitment to punctuality remains an important lesson for the nation. He stressed that effective time management could help Malawi achieve meaningful progress, while poor timekeeping has often undermined critical processes.

“Delays in voter registration, submission of nomination papers, and even by some presidential candidates are examples of how poor time management has cost this nation dearly,” Chakwera said.

The President further noted that the government’s investment in infrastructure, including the new six-lane Saulos Chilima Highway, is intended to save Malawians valuable time on the roads while stimulating economic productivity. He hailed the successful completion of the project, attributing it to consistent government funding.

Minister of Transport Jacob Hara echoed the President’s sentiments, describing the project as sustainable and transformative. He assured Malawians that similar developments are planned for Blantyre and Mzuzu, praising the administration for its dedication to expanding road networks nationwide.

The commissioning of the highway not only honoured Dr. Chilima’s legacy but also highlighted the government’s commitment to building infrastructure that promotes efficiency and economic growth.
