Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Southern Region Governor, Charles Mchacha, has called on losing parliamentary candidates to fully support the party’s victorious aspirants from the September 16, 2025 elections, stressing that unity is vital for strengthening the party’s political direction.
Mchacha emphasised that the DPP must remain focused and well-organised, warning that internal conflicts only weaken the party at a time when Malawians expect a strong and credible opposition capable of guiding national affairs.
He reiterated that the election period is now behind them, urging members to work hand in hand with those who won in order to advance the vision of former president Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika, whom he described as the country’s most dependable leader.
Mchacha also underscored the importance of discipline, loyalty, and a collective strategy, saying these values are essential for repositioning the party as a formidable force.
One of the losing candidates, Joseph Chadaleka of Chikwawa West, pledged his full support toward strengthening the party, acknowledging that the DPP’s effectiveness will depend on how efficiently its structures reorganise post-election.
Chadaleka stressed that this is not the time for personal politics, but rather a moment for rebuilding, realigning, and presenting a unified front for the sake of the party’s future.
He further commended the Regional Governor for convening the meeting, saying such engagements are crucial in fostering collaboration and boosting morale among party members.
Both leaders expressed optimism that renewed unity and collective effort will help reposition the DPP as a strong opposition prepared to serve Malawians effectively.
