Former Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Colleen Zamba, will remain in police custody for a second night after authorities failed to take her to court today as earlier expected.
Zamba was arrested on Tuesday and is facing charges related to abuse of office, though full details of the accusations have not yet been made public.
Her lawyer, Sylvester Ayuba James, confirmed that police recorded her official statement earlier in the day as part of ongoing investigations.

However, James said officers later informed him that they had received instructions “from above” not to take Zamba to court until the 48-hour detention window lapses.
He described the continued delays as a violation of his client’s rights and an abuse of the 48-hour rule, which requires suspects to be brought before court within that timeframe.
The defence team has also confirmed that police obtained a search warrant for Zamba’s mobile phone as part of the investigation.
James said the warrant was reviewed by the legal team, and they are monitoring how the device will be handled to ensure due process is followed.
Zamba is expected to appear in court once the 48-hour period expires, unless authorities announce further changes to the schedule.
