Police in Mchinji have urged Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) members and the entire community to strengthen security measures in their homes as the festive season approaches.
Sub-Inspector Chifundo Botha delivered the message on Sabbath during a church service at Kachere SDA Church. Botha was accompanied by Sergeant Liness Phiri Mtiyesanji and Constable Thom Denister.
The trio emphasized the need for heightened vigilance, advising community members to ensure that no household is left unattended, among other safety precautions. Their appeal comes at a time when cases of theft typically increase during the festive period.
The Police also warned against the use of fireworks without prior permission, stressing that unauthorized fireworks pose safety risks. They further advised residents not to take the law into their own hands but instead to report any suspects or criminal activities to the nearest police station.
Additionally, the Police expressed appreciation for the cordial relationship that exists between law enforcers and the community. They assured the congregants that officers remain on high alert and are ready to assist wherever necessary, utilizing resources mobilized through their community engagement initiatives.
