Deputy national police spokesperson Alfred Chimthere Banda has confirmed that senior Malawi Congress Party (MCP) officials are expected to appear in court tomorrow in connection with ongoing police investigations.
The officials named are Jessie Kabwila, Richard Chimwendo Banda, and Vitumbiko Mumba, all of whom are prominent figures within the ruling party.Chimthere Banda said Jessie Kabwila presented herself to police headquarters earlier today after learning that law enforcement officers were looking for her.
Police took Kabwila into custody upon her arrival, marking the latest development in the case involving the MCP officials.Meanwhile, Richard Chimwendo Banda and Vitumbiko Mumba were arrested on Friday, according to police records.
The deputy police spokesperson indicated that all three are currently in lawful police custody pending their court appearance.Chimthere Banda noted that the specific reasons for Jessie Kabwila’s arrest have not yet been made public.
He explained that full details surrounding the charges will be disclosed when Kabwila appears before the court.
