NANKHUMWA VOWS FAIR ACCESS TO FARM INPUTS IN MULANJE CENTRAL

The People’s Development Party Member of Parliament for Mulanje Central Constituency, Dr. Kondwani Nankhumwa, says his priority is to ensure that every beneficiary registered under the affordable farm inputs programme in the area is able to access and purchase the inputs.

Speaking to journalists, Dr. Nankhumwa said he has so far not received any complaints regarding the sale and distribution of subsidised farm inputs in his constituency.

He explained that the programme is currently operating smoothly at both designated selling points established to serve farmers in Mulanje Central.

Dr. Nankhumwa acknowledged that while some constituencies across the country are experiencing challenges in the implementation of the programme, his area has not recorded similar difficulties.

He attributed the smooth implementation to close monitoring and collaboration with relevant stakeholders involved in the distribution process.

To further improve accessibility, Dr. Nankhumwa said his office has introduced a mobile farm inputs market in the Misanjo area.

The initiative is aimed at reducing long distances that farmers would otherwise travel to access fertiliser and other agricultural inputs.

“As a Member of Parliament, my responsibility is to make sure that everyone can buy fertiliser, and that is why we have introduced a mobile market in Misanjo to make access easier for the people,” said Dr. Nankhumwa.

He expressed confidence that the initiative will enhance timely access to inputs and support increased agricultural productivity in the constituency.
