CAMFED INTERVENTIONS IMPRESSE MINISTER

Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Bright Msaka, has commended the Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) for its significant contribution to advancing education in Malawi.

Speaking in Lilongwe on Tuesday during a meeting with a delegation from CAMFED, Msaka urged the organisation to utilise the government’s recent introduction of free secondary education, which eliminates tuition fees for all public secondary school students, in its new strategy to address the needs of female learners.

He advised CAMFED to redirect its resources to boarding fees in public schools to support more girls at tertiary level and pledged his Ministry’s full support.

The organisation’s Board Chairperson Mcknight Kalanda said their aim is to expand girls’ access to education and empower young women as change leaders, describing this as key to reducing poverty and inequality.

He stressed a commitment to mentoring the students and ensuring that dropout rates are reduced to zero.

CAMFED provides bursaries to support female learners across all districts of Malawi.
