MUTHARIKA TO OPEN 2026/2027 BUDGET MEETING OF PARLIAMENT IN LILONGWE

President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika is today expected to officially open the 2026/2027 Budget Meeting of Parliament in Lilongwe.

This will be the first national budget presentation under the leadership of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) following its victory in the general elections held in September last year.

Malawians across the country are eagerly waiting to hear President Mutharika’s address, particularly on issues of national development, economic growth, and other key matters affecting the country.

Public interest is largely focused on the government’s strategies to strengthen the economy, combat hunger, promote good governance, and accelerate development initiatives.

Since President Mutharika assumed office five months ago, there have been notable improvements in the country’s economic situation. Fuel shortages have eased, foreign currency supplies have stabilized, and the price of maize has reportedly begun to decline, offering hope to many households.
