KABAMBE JOINS UNITED TRANSFORMATION MOVEMENT (UTM)

Former Reserve Bank of Malawi Governor Dalitso Kabambe, who recently resigned from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), has joined the United Transformation Movement (UTM). Kabambe was welcomed by UTM Secretary General Patricia Kaliyati in Thyolo on Tuesday.

Kabambe stated that he decided to join UTM after being impressed with the party’s political manifestos and constitution. “I have decided to join UTM after going through the constitutions and manifestos of different political parties and being impressed with UTM,” said Kabambe.

The economist added that UTM is the only party that has not been tested in running the affairs of the country. He assured people that many others would follow his lead and join the party.

UTM Secretary General Patricia Kaliyati emphasized that the party welcomes new members with open arms. She also indicated that UTM will continue holding Candlelight Memorial Services to honor and remember the souls of beloved UTM members who died in a plane crash in June this year.

Rumors suggest that Kabambe was approached by UTM officials to join the party and potentially contest in the party convention to represent UTM in the 2025 general elections.

UTM resigned from being a member of the Tonse Alliance barely a month after the death of former Vice President and UTM President, Dr. Saulos Chilima.
