MANGOCHI DISTRICT COUNCILLORS LAUD PRESIDENT CHAKWERA’S EXCEPTIONAL SUPPORT FOR DEVELOPMENT

In a significant show of appreciation, Mangochi District Councillors have extolled President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera for his unwavering commitment to the social and economic development of the Lakeshore District. The commendations came on Thursday, 18th July 2024, during an audience with President Chakwera at Chikoko Bay State Lodge in Mangochi.

Councillor Hawa Wasi Daud of Mangochi Msukamwere Ward emphasized that while Malawi has seen Presidents from the Southern Region, none have matched the developmental strides witnessed under President Chakwera’s leadership.

“Malawi has had Presidents from the Southern Region, but never did we see this kind of development in Mangochi,” she stated.

Chairperson for Mangochi District Council, Councillor Hassan Chiputa, lauded President Chakwera for initiating the Mangochi-Makanjira road construction, a project poised to enhance connectivity with neighboring Mozambique. Chiputa also expressed gratitude for the modern housing constructed for security agents in the district.

“There are a lot of positive developments currently taking place in Mangochi. This is exactly what used to happen during the reign of late President Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda. We thank you for transforming Mangochi,” he said, further praising the uniqueness of Chakwera’s administration.

The Councillors collectively praised President Chakwera for his inclusive approach, highlighting his willingness to work with all political factions for the benefit of the people. They noted that this approach ensures equitable development across Malawi, irrespective of political affiliations.

Mayor of Mangochi Municipality, Councillor Imaan Chisuse, urged President Chakwera to facilitate the construction of additional markets to alleviate congestion in the Mangochi main market. He also requested the president to consider allowing them to import vehicles duty-free.

In response, President Chakwera reassured the Councillors of his administration’s commitment to completing all promised development projects in Mangochi.

“There may be delays but be assured that all those developments will be completed soon,” he affirmed. President Chakwera also pledged to maintain open lines of communication with the Councillors to address pressing issues affecting their communities.

The meeting underscored the strong partnership between the local government and the Presidency, reflecting a shared vision for the continued progress and prosperity of Mangochi District.
