MBADWA ZOKHUZIDWA CONDEMNS OPPOSITION PARTIES FOR ACCUSING THE GOVERNMENT OF THE DEATH OF THE FORMER VICE PRESIDENT.

A group called Mbadwa Zokhuzodwa has condemned Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) and United Democratic Front (UDF) for continuously accusing government on the death of late Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima.

One of the member Pastor Thoko Banda urged opposition not to take advantage of the death in insulting leadership of Tonse Alliance.

Pastor Banda made the remarks on Saturday during the Press Conference in Lilongwe.

“Bandwa Zokhuzidwa condemns the practice of using the death to decamping the sitting government because it has potential to destroy peace and unity the country enjoys”, said Banda.

He further said opposition politicians should not pretend as if they were supporting the late Vice President in all the circumstances he passed through such as 2019 campaign, corruption court case when he was arrested by The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) among others.

Another member for the grouping Agape Khombe also urged Malawians not to take ACB as a tool to destroy party candidates by reporting any baseless allegations.

Khombe said people should not think that if anyone reports corruption allegations to ACB, it will automatically be handled without investigation before any arrest.

“We appreciate the role whistleblowers play in fighting against corruption in the country, but this should be done in good faith and for benefit of entire nation”, he said.

Khombe said this following allegation and call for ACB to arrest some MCP officials for sharing money to delegates after meeting ahead party convention.

He said party politics must not go beyond this level because has potential to destroy image of innocent people.

“People must differentiate between helping hand and a hand out or bribes. When delegates have provided resources for transpo, food and accomodation  after meeting, it should not be referred to as hand out”, added Khombe.

Mbadwa Zokhuzidwa also congratulated President Dr Lazarus Chakwera for being active and resilient despite facing numerous challenges such as climatic shock.
