ZOMBA DIOCESE CWA RAISES OVER K2 MILLION ON CHILUNDU DAY

The Catholic Women Association (CWA) in the Zomba Diocese successfully held Chilundu Day to raise funds for various community projects.

Speaking at the event, the Vicar General of the Diocese, Father Vincent Chilolo, urged the CWA to continue finding innovative ways to mobilize funds.

Catholic women from all parishes in the Zomba Diocese, dressed in colorful traditional wear, gathered at Zomba Cathedral. Among other activities, they sold food to fundraise, amassing over K2 million.

Father Chilolo, representing the Bishop of the Diocese, Alfred Mateyu Chaima, thanked the CWA for their various projects, including the construction of a hostel for girls pursuing studies at the University of Malawi (UNIMA) and the purchase of a maize mill to generate income for the association.

“On behalf of the Bishop, I thank you for the commendable work you are doing. Let me appeal to you to continue with the faith to move forward,” Father Chilolo said.

Zomba Diocese Catholic Women Association Chairperson, Christina Lakiyoni, stated that Chilundu Day aimed to raise funds to buy a refrigerator and electric cooker for the UNIMA girls’ hostel. She also thanked all the women from 20 parishes within the diocese for participating in the Chilundu Day fundraising event.
