CHAKWERA PRAISES MUSLIM WORLD LEAGUE FOR LONG-TERM SUPPORT TO MALAWI

Malawi’s President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has commended Muslim World League for its efforts in complimenting government efforts in addressing socioeconomic challenges in the country.

Speaking when he presided over the celebration of Muslim World League (MWL) programme in Malawi, Chakwera said his government appreciates long term support by MWL to Malawi government over 25 years.

He said when he declared state of disaster for 23 districts in Malawi, Muslim World League through its secretariat was among the first partners to respond to situation triggered by El-Nino.

“Muslim World League has done a lot to this nation. For example, Lilongwe rural communities were connected to clean water through their support”, he said.

He mentioned the drought disaster rapid response programme which targeted over 200 households as another as evidence of its clear demonstration and commitment towards welfare of Malawians.

Chakwera further recalled the support of 300 metric tonnes of maize in the middle of Covid-19.

Secretary General of Muslim World League Dr. Mohammed Bin Abdulkarim Al Issa promised to continue supporting Malawi through different interventions targeting vulnerable communities.

“We will continue to stand in solidarity with Malawi through implementation of different programmes targeting poor communiea in health, education and shelter sectors” he said.

He also called beneficiaries of the projects being implemented by MWL to sacrifice themselves for the prosperity of the nation.

MWL also commended efforts taken by First Lady Madame Monica Chakwera through the foundation of girl child education and promised to support the initiative which supports vulnerable girls and orphans.

“Orphans who lost parents celebrate that they have loving guidians in the name of President Dr Lazarus Chakwera and First Lady Madame Monica Chakwera”, they said.

Among the interventions implemented by MWL include disaster relief, provision of clean water through drilling of boreholes, housing, education and health.

During the ceremony, beneficiaries of MWL shared testimonies of how the organization has helped and reached out to many vulnerable children in Malawi.

In Malawi, MWL is committed to promoting the welfare and development of the Malawian population through humanitarian aid, educational programs, and interfaith dialogue. 

Its mission is to foster understanding, peace, and cooperation among diverse communities, while addressing critical social, economic, and health challenges.
