CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY GRADUATES 1,500 STUDENTS IN GRAND CEREMONY

The Catholic University of Malawi has successfully graduated 1,500 students with diplomas and degrees across various programs.

Speaking at the event, the Chairperson of the Catholic University Council, Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa, praised the graduates, noting that they are known for being dedicated and reliable in the workplace due to the strong academic foundation built on Christian morals and values.

He further highlighted that companies and organizations have acknowledged the positive contributions of Catholic University graduates, referring to them as “assets worth celebrating.”

Archbishop Msusa urged the new graduates to uphold the university’s image and integrity by being dependable and committed to their duties in their future careers. He also encouraged them to reject corrupt practices and embrace a mindset change to positively impact national development.

Additionally, the Archbishop announced plans for the Catholic University to introduce online programs, enabling students to access education from various locations. He also disclosed that the university would soon open a new campus at Nanjiri in Lilongwe, aimed at increasing access to tertiary education.

He took the opportunity to commend the university’s academic staff, as well as parents and guardians, for their support in enrolling students at the institution. He gave special thanks to the Episcopal Conference of Malawi for its continued support of tertiary education at the university.

The Guest of Honour, Chief Executive Officer of Ethanol, Rusubilo Chakaniza, also encouraged the new graduates to be agents of change in their respective workplaces by championing a shift in mindset.

Vice Chancellor of the Catholic University, Professor Ngeyi Kanyongolo, advised the graduates to apply the knowledge and skills they acquired through the university’s various programs. She further encouraged them to pursue higher education to advance beyond their current qualifications.

Professor Kanyongolo reminded the graduates to demonstrate kindness and humility in the workplace, reflecting the values of a Christian education.

Speaking on behalf of the students, Sister Steria Victor expressed her gratitude for earning her degree after years of hard work. Sister Victor, who graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Mathematics and Geography), affirmed her readiness to excel in her career while upholding the moral values instilled by the university.
