President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera will engage with the youth of Malawi in a digital Town Hall forum on Friday, 21st February 2025, at 2:30 PM. The event will be accessible via X Spaces and Facebook, allowing young people across the country to participate in real-time discussions with the President.
In a video message shared on his Facebook page, President Chakwera emphasized his commitment to directly engaging with the youth to discuss key aspects of the country’s development, as outlined in his Fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered in Parliament on 14th February 2025. The forum will offer a platform for young people to voice their opinions, ask questions, and raise concerns on government initiatives, especially those targeted to address the needs of the younger generation.
President Chakwera has long advocated for the active participation of youth in national development. He believes that creating opportunities for dialogue between the government and young people is vital for shaping policies that align with the aspirations and challenges of the country’s younger population.
The digital format of the Town Hall forum ensures broad accessibility, enabling young people from all regions of Malawi to take part in the conversation. Topics of discussion will center around critical issues such as employment, education, entrepreneurship, and the overall state of youth development in Malawi.
This interactive session, held under the theme “SONA for the Youth: Our State in Taking Development Forward,” is part of the government’s ongoing effort to promote transparency and strengthen youth involvement in the nation-building process. By directly engaging with the youth, the forum not only facilitates open communication but also helps ensure that developmental programs resonate with the needs and goals of young Malawians.
In line with the President’s vision for inclusive development, the forum will provide an opportunity for the youth to actively shape the conversation on key national priorities. It is expected that the meeting will serve as an important step in building a more empowered, engaged, and forward-looking youth community in Malawi.
