CHAKWERA BOOSTS YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has emphasized the importance of youth inclusion in various sectors, recognizing their vital role in Malawi’s economic growth.

Speaking on his administration’s initiatives, President Chakwera highlighted the expansion of electricity access through the Malawi Rural Electrification Programme (MAREP), stressing its significance for young people, especially in rural areas.

Education remains a key priority. The president announced the construction of additional classrooms and schools to provide conducive learning environments and shield students from harsh weather. Efforts are underway to ensure all schools are equipped with essential learning materials to combat resource shortages.

To enhance skills development, Chakwera revealed plans to establish technical colleges in every district. He also reaffirmed his commitment to promoting the arts, ensuring the creative industry benefits the youth.

In a move toward inclusivity, the president noted the revival of the Malawi Council of Disability Affairs (MACODA), aimed at engaging youth with disabilities in national development. He warned against discrimination, urging the Ministry of Gender to take firm action against offenders.
