President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has emphasized the crucial role of youth in combating corruption, urging them to actively report corrupt practices while maintaining integrity.
Speaking at the SONA for Youth session at Grand Palace Hotel in Mzuzu, he warned that corruption hampers development and threatens national progress. He called on young people to stay vigilant and proactive in exposing corruption.
Chakwera expressed concern over policymakers who exploit vulnerable individuals by soliciting bribes, stating that such behavior obstructs development and limits opportunities for the youth.
He noted that many fail to recognize and share the numerous opportunities available for young people in various sectors. However, he reassured them that the government has established initiatives to empower youth in nation-building.
Citing the Agriculture Commercialisation Initiative (AGCOM), he reaffirmed its goal of enhancing youth productivity and ensuring their contribution to societal progress.
