The Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS) on Tuesday provided cash assistance to 530 households in Phalombe district to help them prepare for Cyclone Jude.
MRCS Project Officer Yamikani Makwinja stated that the cash support aims to help families reduce the impact of the cyclone as they relocate to safer areas.
“The cash will assist affected households in their readiness for Cyclone Jude,” said Makwinja.
Beneficiaries welcomed the financial aid, describing it as timely since many lack resources to cushion themselves against the disaster.
MRCS targeted families from Traditional Authorities Kaduya and Kaledzera, with each household receiving K70,000. The initiative was funded by the Danish Red Cross.
