WHO: 3,400 LIVES LOST TO TB DAILY

The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that 3,400 people die from tuberculosis (TB) every day.

WHO Country Representative Dr. Neema Kimambo shared this in Lilongwe during the 2025 World TB and Leprosy Elimination Day commemoration. She also highlighted that nearly 30,000 people worldwide fall ill with the preventable and curable disease daily.

Dr. Kimambo urged all nations to turn their commitments into action to achieve the End TB Strategy by 2030.

“As partners accelerate their efforts, they should also increase public awareness of TB symptoms while combating stigma and discrimination in communities,” she said.

During the event, outstanding district health offices were recognized for their exceptional efforts in fighting TB.
