MALAWI, UAE SIGN MOUS TO BOOST BILATERAL COOPERATION

Malawi and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) in the areas of mining, trade, education, and diplomatic training to strengthen bilateral relations.

The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe and was witnessed by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Speaking after the event, Malawi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo, said the agreements align with Malawi’s Vision 2063, which aims to foster stable and sustainable economic growth.

“The President has been engaging with various countries to explore ways of developing Malawi, and these agreements demonstrate his commitment to building a better nation,” said Tembo.

The UAE envoy’s visit follows President Chakwera’s trip to the UAE last year, during which he promoted Malawi’s Agriculture, Tourism, and Mining (ATM) strategy.
