President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has arrived in Harare, Zimbabwe to attend a one-day Southern African Development Community (SADC) Transfrontier Conservation Areas (TFCA) Summit of Heads of State and Government.
The summit brings together leaders from across the SADC region to review progress made over the past 25 years in transboundary conservation efforts. It also serves as a platform to renew commitments and strategize for enhanced cooperation in biodiversity conservation, ecosystem protection, sustainable tourism, and the improvement of community livelihoods.
Held under the theme, “Transfrontier Conservation Areas: 25 Years of Fostering Regional Integration and Sustainable Development,” the summit underscores the importance of joint action in managing shared natural resources.
While in Harare, President Chakwera is also expected to hold bilateral talks with fellow Heads of State, aimed at strengthening Malawi’s diplomatic relations and fostering regional cooperation on a range of shared interests.
The President is scheduled to return to Malawi later this evening through Kamuzu International Airport.
