CorpsAfrica has reaffirmed its commitment to continue implementing community-driven development initiatives in Traditional Authority (T/A) M’biza in collaboration with the Zomba District Council, with the aim of improving the economic well-being of local residents.
This was disclosed by CorpsAfrica’s Programs Coordinator, Wongani Mwasinga, during a District Executive Committee (DEC) meeting held in Zomba, where he outlined the organization’s upcoming projects in the area.
Mwasinga explained that CorpsAfrica operates through a unique volunteer model, whereby trained local volunteers work closely with communities to identify and implement projects based on the communities’ own priorities.
“So far, our initiatives have included the construction of bridges, school blocks, and the provision of livestock such as goats and chickens, among other activities,” Mwasinga said.
She emphasized that the overarching goal is to promote economic self-reliance among people in T/A M’biza and to improve educational infrastructure to enhance learning conditions for children.
“We will work hand in hand with the Zomba District Council on all our projects. The most important thing is collaboration,” Mwasinga added.
In his remarks, the Director of Planning and Development (DPD) for Zomba District, Precious Kantsitsi, welcomed the continued support from CorpsAfrica, noting that the district has seen a rise in development-focused organizations expressing interest in partnering with local authorities.
Kantsitsi highlighted that, according to the Zomba District Development Plan (DDP), there is a significant need for partnerships across multiple sectors to maximize outreach and impact across communities.
