The first 100 days of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration following the September 16, 2025 general elections have demonstrated a strong and focused start to governance under proven leadership.
Despite sustained propaganda efforts by the opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) aimed at denting the image of the new DPP government, such attempts have failed to gain traction among Malawians.
President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika assumed office with a clear mission to serve the nation and restore confidence in leadership, governance, and economic management.
While the MCP sought to exploit public sentiment surrounding fuel price hikes and temporary fuel shortages, the DPP administration concentrated on finding lasting and practical solutions to the challenges.
Within just 100 days, President Mutharika has put in place an administration centered on promoting the welfare and well-being of ordinary Malawians.
The availability of fuel has improved, signaling decisive leadership and a commitment to stabilizing key sectors of the economy.
The distribution of free maize has brought relief to vulnerable households, reaffirming the DPP’s people-centered approach to governance.
Donor confidence and international support have begun to return, reflecting renewed trust in Malawi’s economic direction and policy credibility.
The absence of panga-wielding thuggery, the restoration of the rule of law, and respect for the independence of the three arms of government mark a return to order and constitutionalism.
The administration has also demonstrated seriousness in enforcing austerity measures and fiscal discipline, ensuring that public resources are managed responsibly.
All these achievements represent only the beginning of the fulfillment of promises aligned with Malawi Vision 2063 and the broader national development agenda.
Come January 2026, the opposition MCP will find itself tongue-tied as the implementation of free secondary education, following the abolition of school fees, rolls out—benefiting Malawians today and laying the foundation for even greater achievements after the passage of the 2026/2027 national budget.
