All roads in Blantyre City are leading to the Independence Drive and Victoria Avenue Junction near the Immigration offices in the Central Business District (CBD) this afternoon.
The development follows plans by Blantyre City Council (BCC) to host the Mayor’s End of Year Party, which will run through to 1 January 2026.
According to the Council, the event is expected to attract large crowds due to its central location and festive significance.
In a public notice, BCC announced that the celebration will be spiced by performances from the popular Mibawa Band.
The Council added that other well-known artists will also grace the stage to entertain revelers.
BCC says the event is part of efforts to celebrate the end of the year and welcome the New Year in a vibrant and inclusive manner.
Meanwhile, the Council has advised motorists and drivers to be cautious around the area due to increased activity.
Road users have further been urged to use alternative routes during the period to avoid congestion and ensure public safety.
